JDT PR is a public relations firm made up of three students from Quinnipiac University enrolled in STC 201: Writing For Strategic Communications. Our mission is to be committed to delivering informed, media-savvy public relations services based on our industry knowledge, a real understanding of the issues that affect both our clients and their customers. Our team has a genuine enthusiasm for what we do. Joe and I being, PR majors, and Tess being an advertising major, brings every aspect of what we need into play. Our target is to act as a trusted extension of our clients’ voice, producing results that directly and positively impact on our clients’ business objectives.

In this case, we are assisting Home Health Specialty Services, a private, non-profit home elderly care company. The local business wants to gain more clients with the use of social media, and public marketing. For this task, we built social profiles and designed a flyer to hang inside hospitals.

JDT PR is skilled in giving our clients what they need. We care for our clients and bring it to a personal level to help different companies' needs. Thank you for choosing JDT PR for your PR representative, social media, and marketing needs.

Sincerely,

Danae Braga, Tess Bates, and Joe Bertolami

JDT PR is a Public Relations firm made up of three Quinnipiac students determined to assist its clients to the best of their ability. Each member possesses a unique quality within our firm. Working together, we each have utilized our different skill sets to produce a high-quality public relations campaign for Home Health Specialty Services.

Home Health Specialty Services:

  • Top Home Health Agency in Connecticut with 4-star rating

  • Small, private business servicing New Haven County

  • Provides skilled nursing, physical therapy, medical social services, occupational therapy, speech therapy, home health aide services, behavioral health services, and case management and reimbursement specialists

  • 6 Specialty Care Program Paths: cardiac care, COPD care, orthopedic care, diabetic care, wound care, stroke care, behavioral health care

  • ACHC Accreditation

Our Approach and Strategy:

We approached this campaign by first discussing what we should develop for our client, Home Health Specialty Services. We then assigned roles based on strengths. Since this is a PR writing course, we decided it would be beneficial to produce written content for HHSS. Two of the major writing pieces we covered extensively in class were press releases and feature stories. Joe primarily produced both of these pieces, the press release being an informational story, while the feature story highlighted Aimee Powers, a physical therapist with the company.

Danae primarily worked on rejuvenating the social media presence of Home Health Specialty Services, as she created a Facebook page for them. During our collaboration period, we discussed our social media options and concluded that Facebook was the best social media platform to reach Home Health Specialty Services’ target audience, which is 55-65-year-olds.

Tess primarily completed the last portion of the campaign. She used some of her former design skills and the skills learned in class to offer a redesign to Home Health Specialty Services’ website and created a flyer with some general information about the services offered to advertise the business in an efficient and eye-catching way. Everything is linked together for our project for maximum information sharing. The Facebook page includes a link to the website, the feature story can be found on the website, etc. We feel this part of our approach was vital because it makes all of our content easy to access. Attached in this booklet are our press release, feature story, and flyer created for Home Health Specialty Services. Our redesigned website can be found at https://tessbates.wixsite.com/homehealth and there is a link to our Facebook page located in the top right-hand corner of the website.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Home Health Speciality Services one of the highest-rated in Connecticut, despite being private

November 12, 2018—HAMDEN, CONN. Home Health Specialty Services is a private community-based nursing agency whose mission is to serve New Haven County with home nursing services to enhance the well-being of the entire community.

Despite being private, Home Health has exceeded expectations when it comes to its quality of health care. The agency has achieved ACHC accreditation and a four-star rating, a feat very few health care professionals have been able to attain.

“We are thrilled with these achievements that we have received,” company president Janine Martino said. “We have worked extremely hard over the years, so this is a credit to that.”

Home Health still has the desire to get its name out there to a wider audience, even with how accomplished they already are.

“We are really excited about what we have been able to accomplish,” Martino said. “However, it still is rather difficult for us to get the word out about our company because we are not allowed to advertise in hospitals.”

Even with this hindrance, Home Health has remained a trustworthy company for a plethora of clients. Their personalized services will continue to meet the individual’s situation respectfully, efficiently, and compassionately. Aimee Powers of Home Health Specialty Services (Feature Story)

Aimee Powers wakes up each morning without a set schedule when she goes to work. Many jobs require one to sit at a cubicle from 9-5, others need physical strength for their job, but Powers, a physical therapist at Home Health Specialty Services, is always moving around on a day to day basis. She says she would not have it any other way.

“I have always enjoyed patient care and working with elderly people,” Powers said. “One of the things I enjoy most about the job is finding someone who may be a little bit down and out and giving them help so that they can do okay. It feels good to make a difference.”

Health care is certainly a field where one can make a difference for others, but what separates this company from the rest of the pack? According to Powers, who had experience working at a large corporation prior to getting her job at HHSS, it is the close community that exists at Home Health.

“All of the staff know each other,” Powers said. “For me, there is no corporate feel to what we are doing, and 100 percent of what we do is for the patient.”

The mentality of always putting the patient first has paid dividends for development, as high praise has been received at Home Health Specialty Services from the public. Despite being a small and privately owned business, HHSS has earned accreditation, as well as a four-star rating for Home Health Agencies in Connecticut. All of these accolades come without being allowed to advertise inside hospitals, making most of its reputation with the public come from word of mouth.

“We have grown a lot in patient care,” stated Powers. “The collaboration between the nurse and the physical therapist was non-existent when I got here, and now it is very good and always improving.”

The consistent improvement has certainly been well-noticed by people across the state, but the well-rounded staff often complete tasks not listed in their job descriptions. Aimee stated earlier that making a difference in people’s lives was an important perk of her job, for the 11-year veteran of the company, a difference was made in a big way fairly recently.

Powers says, “I met with someone who did not think she would make it to heart surgery that was three weeks away. I advocated for her to move the surgery closer, and was able to get the surgery scheduled sooner.”

“You basically saved my life,” she quoted her patient. This is just one instance of what work can look like for her. It may not be that way every single day, but either way, this is not your typical 9-5 job. The quality of care that Powers and the rest of Home Health Specialty Services believe in and carry out is nothing short of spectacular. This life-changing and even life-saving work cannot be quantified with ratings or stars, and while Home Health has done well in that regard, they stick to only caring about what truly matters; providing the best possible care for every single patient.
